It is known that in order to increase your productivity you need to get up early. Despite all of your efforts you have not managed so far to wake up in the early hours of the morning. But you should not let your productivity to slip away.
Here are eight tips to get up early in the morning without problems
Even if you set your alarm clock earlier this does not mean that you manage to get out of bed faster. If you consistently stay more moments in bed after the alarm goes off then it is clear sign that your body needs time to adapt. So instead setting the alarm at 5 a.m. do it a minute earlier until you will reach your goal.
If you wake up at 5 am you will have a lot of extra time to do things, but if you usually get out of bed at 8:30 am, you cannot change your habit overnight. Therefore it is better to use a method in order to get small victories that can motivate you. Progress encourages you to keep going. Instead of relying on logic and put the alarm clock two hours earlier, try to put the alarm half an hour earlier. When you've reached a goal you already achieved a small victory.
Make an appointment with other morning people first thing in the morning. This is a trick that works. The body uses biological signals; studies have shown that when people have something to do at a certain time, their body wakes up naturally. This is why you wake up before the alarm sounds when you fix something important.
You are more likely to adopt a new habit if you create a proper environment for this. For example, put the clock across the room so you'll be forced to get out of bed to turn off the alarm.
Analyze what you have tried before to get out of bed earlier:
- What steps have you done?
- What did not work?
- What would you have changed?
Be honest. Why you have not succeeded until now to reach your goal?
What will you do with the extra time used once you embrace the habit of waking up early in the morning? Did you take into account what impact this vision will have? For example, if you want to start running in the morning but you don’t like this, you will eventually associate this with an unpleasant thing.
Use the calendar to see the progress made each day. This will motivate you to continue what you are doing.
The belief that you're not a "morning person" is a limiting belief. Replace it with the statement "I am the type who wakes up in the morning light" and see how your behavior will change.
Once you adopt these habits, you will not ever return to "not a morning person."
